Important Information for NIH applicants

If you are submitting an electronic proposal to the National Institutes of Health, there is a web-based tool that will facilitate the process. Cayuse 424 is now available for use. There will be several opportunities to learn the software. School of Medicine and Public Health will be offering demonstrations of the entire package (the Research Plan Templates and the web tools) as follows:

    Monday, December 18
    1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
    1335 HSLC

    Wednesday, December 20
    1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
    1110 Biotech Center

We will do the web tools first so those that have already been to a seminar on the Research Plan Templates will not have to sit through a repeat. We are allowing three hours because we anticipate a lot of questions even though this software is so much better than Pure Edge.

Hands-on sessions for the Templates scheduled for December 15 and 20 have been cancelled.

This is just the beginning for those submitting in February or March. There will continue to be training in January and beyond.

Research and Sponsored Programs is also offering training sessions. For details, check:

To use Cayuse 424, you will need the following:
    - net id and password
    - NIH Commons user name
    - MS Word
    - Browser: Firefox; Internet Explorer 7 will also work for PC users
    - Funding Opportunity number (also known as the Program Announcement or Request for Applications number)

Grantworks

Form suite PHS-398 & 2590

6.6.5 Grantworks updated the official name from Medical School to School of Medicine and Public Health

6.6.4 2590 Allows the extended list of people to be printed

6.6.3 Fixes for Tuition remission checkboxes that were stuck on in 2590 form, and added space for more people.

Fixes for: (Form Page 1 - reduced font size so the FWA number fit)(Form Page 3, Number of Publications and G Literature cited was the same - needed to be two different values, Other items list was missing a text field)(Personal Data Form Page cosmetic changes)(Modular Budget Format Page Consortium text field added, Fee text field added). Changed the dhhs agreement date. Fixed the rate popup menu on the checklist page

The 2005 version of Grantworks(6.6.5) has now been released.
Grantworks 6.6.5 conforms to the current NIH specifications.

The Filemaker Pro Application is no longer needed to run Grantworks, but if you would like to use the application, Filemaker Pro for Windows or Macintosh 7.0 is recommended.

Clarification: There are 2 versions of Grantworks 6.6.1 available. One will require Filemaker Pro 7; and the other will be a runtime version of Filemaker that will not require you to have a version of the Filemaker application on your computer. These new versions of Forms PHS-398 & 2590 will not work with older versions of Filemaker.
